Sixth & last month of Easy As ABC QAL

Dec 31, 13 Sixth & last month of Easy As ABC QAL

Wow!  I can not believe today is the last day of 2013!  Where has December gone!  I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year :). This month is the sixth and last month of the Easy As ABC QAL.  Again I ran out of time to do all the blocks and only managed to do 2 of the blocks that I had already calculated in earlier months i.e. for “E” and “S”.  I am making a smaller version of the Easy As ABC QAL quilt i.e. reducing the blocks/quilt by 50% so it will be a cot quilt or a nice lap sized quilt for a toddler :). My 11yo son is turning 12yo in just over 1 week and has requested a Minecraft quilt for his birthday present.  I am busily trying to get it done before his birthday and hoping that I can finish the rest of this Easy As ABC QAL blocks and the quilt top by January 13th 2014 :). November have flown by so quickly.  I can not believe there is only 2 weeks left of school before my kids go on summer vacation.  Lots still to do and so little time! For the fifth month of Easy As ABC QAL, I have calculated and cut out all the letters but only found time to sew 2 of the blocks.  I hope to finish the other 3 next week :).   For more information about the Easy As ABC QAL, please visit Blossom Heart Quilts....

I am relearning how to shuttle tat using Marilee Rockley’s Craftsy online shuttle tatting class and the YouTube videos by Karen Cabrera on her Entre Lanzaderas blog.  Here are some of my attempts :).   I attempted floating rings using Karen Cabrera’s Lesson 10 on Floating rings.   So excited!  My first split chain using Karen Cabrera’s alternate split chain method YouTube video – Lesson 124. I tried several times using Lesson 14 with no luck.  Finally got it with Lesson 124 although it still took me several goes to get right :). Next split rings, mock rings and more...

I have been trying to finish some WIPs that I have neglected my Farmer’s Wife Sampler quilt.  I have recently  finished my youngest daughter’s quilt so I took a break to make Block #30 End of Day :). Here are my 15 blocks so far for Farmer’s Wife Sampler quilt.  Except for one block, they were all made by foundation paper piecing.   I am linking this blog post with Stitch by Stitch’s Anything Goes Monday (28th Oct 2013), Blossom Heart Quilts’ Sew Cute (29th Oct 2013), Freshly Pieced’s WIP Wednesday (30th Oct 2013), Quiet Play’s Paper Piecing party (1st Nov 2013).  You can find out more information for both here:      Now back to quilting/finishing my other daughter’s quilt...
