My 4yo daughter wanted to make a gift for her Kindy teacher.  From a friend’s suggestion, we got a small canvas and my daughter painted it  all over with paint we had available.  I think next time I will try to get a better range of colours so there will be a nice rainbow effect.  She then used a black Artline permanent marker to draw a sun, 3 flowers and 3 butterflies.   Besides waiting for the paint to dry, this activity was quick and easy for a 4yo child to do. Here is the resulting artwork.  I love it and so does her Kindy teacher :). I love this idea and will be doing this again with my 6yo daughter for her Grade 1 teacher :).   My 4yo daughter also drew an artwork for a dinner plate.  I can not wait to see how it turns out.  I am also going to hand embroider her plate artwork for her bedroom....

I am doing a Mug Rug swap with some lovely Aussie ladies in a Facebook group.  The son of one of the ladies passed away recently so the rest of us in the group decided to make a quilt for her.  The quilt will be made up of healing heart blocks contributed by members in the Facebook group and other quilters who know her.   Here are my healing heart blocks using cream fabric and country coloured fabric. Heart Block 3 was made using a method I just discovered i.e. paperless foundation paper piecing.  This method involves making the block the same way as foundation paper piecing but you don’t actually sew on the paper.  This allow you to reuse the pattern paper again and again.  I am happy with the way the block turned out and will be trying this method again for other quilting blocks :)....

As it was Father’s Day on Sunday 1st Sept, I was really busy last week volunteering in my girls’ classroom/Kindy. Luckily I found some time during the weekend to add a white border to finish my quilt top for the Star Surround QAL.   For more information and to see the tutorials for Star Surround QAL, please visit Happy Quilting here :). Please excuse the photo.  I was in a hurry so didn’t have time to take a better photo.  Now to baste, quilt and bind it :). Two of the chosen fabric used in the dolly quilt top is from the fabric range Veranda Screen Print by Amanda Murphy for Robert Kaufman.  The purple print is D#11500 and the yellow print is D# 11485....
